Admissions to the School
Children are admitted to the school in accordance with the County Admissions Policy.
We welcome prospective parents and pupils to visit us, please ring the school to make a date and time to be shown around the school and to discuss your child attending our Eastry Church of England Primary School.
Primary Admissions (Reception)
In November the Local Education Authority sends Common Application Forms (CAFs) to schools and these are forwarded to parents who have already registered with the school. Parents are required to list 3 schools in preferential order. The forms then need to be sent to the LEA by the required deadline. The LEA will then allocate places using their published criteria.
Should we be over subscribed the following criteria apply:
Children in local care.
Current family association (an older brother or sister at the school)
Health reasons (for which a medical certificate may be needed); parental health is not a criterion.
Nearness of the children’s home to the school. (Kent Admissions use the distance between the child’s permanent home address and the school, measured in a straight line using the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) address point data. Distances are measured from a point defined as within the child’s home to a point defined as within the school as specified by NLPG. The same address point on the school site is used for everybody)
Parents will be informed about their child’s place in April.
In line with Kent County Council guidelines, reception aged children usually start school in term 1. They follow a part time induction programme which ensures they attend school for the required hours per week and this allows them to become accustomed to life at school. They start full time education after a few weeks.
Special Educational Needs (SEN)
If your child has a special education need please contact the school to speak to our SENCO.
