Sport and the PE curriculum is highly valued at Eastry Church of England Primary School. It is central to both the physical and emotional development of our children, encouraging team spirit and promoting resilience and honesty, skills that readily transfer into everyday life.

For a small community school, we have great facilities and grounds to support our children’s physical development! Our large games field facilitates cricket, rounders, football and athletics, plus we have a fantastic running (mile-a-day) track. The school has two hard-play areas which are ideal for sports such as netball and hockey. Our indoor hall is a great space for all weather sports and often used for dance, gymnastics and cheerleading.

From year 1 to 6 PE curriculum lessons are taught by Elite coaching. They support the development and skills of the children in a range of sports including; basketball, hockey, football, rounders, athletics and netball. As a school it is important to use specialist coaches to enhance the opportunities for all children. We have also welcomed specialist coaches in badminton, dance and cricket, allowing more opportunities across different sports on top of curriculum lessons.

As a school we want all children to be active, having the opportunity to develop skills and confidence through inclusive sports and allowing children plenty of opportunity to be competitive. As a school we take part in both the Dover School Games and the Competitive Package. Competition is an integral part of our school. Opportunities to be competitive in a range of sports at Eastry Church of England Primary School include; football, netball, athletics, swimming, cricket and cross-country.

Each year we hold our annual whole school summer sports day. On top of this we have an alternative sports day, allowing children the opportunity to try new sports such as skateboarding, fencing, rugby and boxing.

There are also a variety of clubs, some of which enhance the sports they play regularly, such as football, netball and dance and others which allow new opportunities such as cheerleading and boxercise.
