Christmas Craft Workshop
We welcomed Kent Adult Education to join us making Christmas crafts in the school. It was a great way of children and parents working together
Hand Made Christmas Decorations
As part of our advent and Christmas celebrations the children made decorations in forest school to decorate our tree in school and as part of the Christmas tree festival at St Mary's Church.
Festival of Trees
St. Mary's Church are holding a Festival of Trees for the first time this year. Local clubs and communities were invited to decorate a tree in the church and Eastry School dressed their tree with decorations made by the children in Forest School. The tree looks amazing and what a lovely way to show our decorations to others in the community and to see what they have created too! The Festival of Trees is open in the church in the lead up to Christmas from 9am to dusk.
Christmas Dinner!
Christmas lunch: we had a delicious Christmas lunch prepared by Maria and Jo. The children enjoyed coming together as a school community sharing in the joyful celebrations. Thank you to the PTFA for the crackers too.
A visit from Father Christmas!
Father Christmas: The children were delighted to see Father Christmas as he popped by to see us and kindly gave us a little gift to take home. Thank you Father Christmas!
NSPCC Speak Out. Stay Safe
Today we held the NSPCC Speak Out to Stay Safe assemblies to learn about the signs of abuse and who can help us. We learnt that all children have the right to speak out and stay safe.
Anti Bullying Week
This week we have been raising awareness for anti-bullying. Learning about how to 'choose respect' which is also one of our school vision values. In class we looked at how we all have our part to play to make the school and our world a kind place to be. We also wore odd socks to show we're all different but everyone should be respected.
Remembering those who Served in our Armed Forces
Year 6 joined other members of our community and the Eastry branch of the British Legion to mark the two minutes silence at 11:00 remembering those who have served in the armed forces.
Laying of a Wreath at Remembrance Sunday Service
Alfie and Colby represented the school at the village Remembrance Sunday service, laying the wreath made by year 1. They showed our school vision values of respect and community. Thank you Mrs Rogers and Miss Thomas for supporting them.
PTFA Bonfire and Fireworks Night
A huge thank you Eastry family for you support of our fireworks event. It was a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you especially to Sam and the PTFA for all their hard work organising the event, the staff and volunteers who helped keep everyone safe and entertained. Also to our fabulous Eastry firefighters who made sure the bonfire could be marvelled at safely and the scouts for their delicious BBQ. And of course Oscar for ‘pushing the button!’ Lovely see our vision value of community in action.
Learning about Respect and the Importance of Remembrance Day
This week in worship we have been thinking about our vision value ‘respect’ and we considered the importance of remembrance. The children made poppies to create a focus for our remembrance worship.
Multi-Faith Inspire Day
Miss Thomas led our Multi-faith Inspire day. The children learnt about creation from different faiths, with the teachers swapping classrooms so they could share different stories. We then welcomed in our families to celebrate what we had learnt.
